Vice President of Construction/Partner
Mr. Brennan J. Raab currently serves as the Vice President of Construction and Development for The Whitmore Company. He is responsible for all aspects of pre‑construction and construction operations for the company’s mixed‑use retail and multi‑family developments in the Virginia and Texas markets. His responsibilities include property rezoning and municipal project approvals, design and plan review, design team and General Contractor contract negotiations, financial budgeting, cost tracking and projections, as well as oversight of project managers.
Prior to joining The Whitmore Company, Mr. Raab served for approximately five years as a Senior Project Manager at Henderson, Inc., a large commercial general contractor headquartered in Williamsburg, Virginia. Before his tenure at Henderson, he was the Vice President of Construction at Roseland Property Company, where he worked alongside Mr. Daniel W. Aston and Ms. Kay J. Harlow prior to the closing of Roseland’s Virginia office.
Mr. Raab has overseen the development and construction of multi‑family condominium and apartment properties in Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia. He has simultaneously managed adaptive reuse projects utilizing historic tax credits and new out‑of‑ground developments, including property and market analysis, design development, construction, and turnover to buyers or leasing managers. His experience includes managing design‑build, negotiated, and hard‑bid projects from estimating and proposal development through project close‑out. He has been responsible for all project management requirements on three to four projects simultaneously, each ranging from $50,000 retail buildouts to $85 million multi-use developments. His portfolio includes regional and national award‑winning historic tax‑credit renovations, theaters, restaurants, performing arts venues, manufacturing facilities, multi‑phase educational facilities, refrigerated warehouses, retail shopping centers, aircraft hangers, air cargo hubs, state transportation facilities and Department of Defense facilities .
Mr. Raab has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry and is certified by the Design‑Build Institute of America. He received his Master of Construction Science and Management from Clemson University with an emphasis on Design‑Build Project Management Systems. While at Clemson, he was a member of Sigma Lambda Chi – the National Honor Society for Construction – and served as a Teaching Assistant in Building Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Systems Design.
He earned his Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of North Carolina, graduating Cum Laude with an emphasis on Architectural Engineering and Health Care Facility Design. He received the American Institute of Architecture Scholarship for Professional Studies and the Phi Kappa Phi Scholar Award for Outstanding Merit and Leadership.
